Located about four feet underground, the eight-foot sewer line catching wastewater primarily from Webb Hall broke on Tuesday, after filling up with gravel, dirt and other objects that are harmful to the sewer line.
Directly above the sewer line runs the storm drain. According to Physical Plant Manager Ken Broyles, the stress recent weather has had on the storm drain was a contributing factor in the sewer line breaking.
No services have been turned off in Webb, but Broyles recommended Webb residents minimize water usage until the repair is complete.
"We'll be flooded out if 144 boys decided to shower at the same time," Broyles said.
Broyles plans on having the problem fixed within hours. Burleson Construction workers who are repairing the sewer line dug a trench to catch wastewater collecting in the meantime.
In the wise words of today's chapel speaker, "If it's yellow let it mellow. If it's brown flush it down."
