The Sycamore Shoals emergency room was the last place sophomores Emily Burton and Tommy Parker expected to find themselves this past Saturday evening. During the second biggest snow that East Tennessee has seen in nearly a decade, a few unfortunate Milligan students, including Burton and Parker, managed to break some major appendages.

Joe Maddox spoke at Convocation last Tuesday. A minister serving for the last 23 years at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Knoxville, Tenn., Maddox was Milligan's Martin Luther King Day speaker. In addition to summarizing King's life, Maddox made connections with his own life, recited a part of King's "I Have a Dream" speech and spoke of the one who came before King.
